What this does

Auto mastering analyzes your mix, compares it to our preset for the chosen flavor, and adjusts the spectral balance and dynamics toward that target.

Auto mastering polishes a finished mix: it doesn't fix problems in your mix. So if your mix is a turd, the best it can do is make a shiny turd out of it.

Adjustment range

Each slider caps how much the engine may adjust that band (boosting or cutting) on its way toward the preset. At 6 dB it can move the band by up to 6 dB in either direction; at 0 dB the band is left as-is. 12 dB of adjustment (6 dB up or down) is a lot; if it still falls short the fix belongs in the mix, not the master.

Lower the range for a band when you feel the auto-adjustment overcorrects there. The defaults (Bass 2, Mid 2, High 2) stay conservative: the low and high ends lean heavily on content and are the easiest to overreact to: with little or no deep bass, for instance, chasing the preset just boosts noise. The midrange spans a broad 150 Hz – 3 kHz, so even a few dB there is a lot of leverage; 2 dB corrects the balance without flattening the mix's own character. Every slider still reaches 6 dB if a track needs more.

Digital vs Vinyl

Digital is the standard path for streaming and download masters. The loudness target defaults to −12 LUFS, which gives the limiter enough room to work without heavy gain reduction on typical material.

Vinyl inserts a cut-safety filter stage before the master limiter: it removes sub-sonic content below 20 Hz, collapses bass energy below 100 Hz to the center, and rolls off the ultrasonic top (17.5 kHz). Collapsing the bass to the center is the critical one. Vertical cutter head displacement at high amplitude is what makes a needle jump, and mono low end prevents it. Loudness is capped to −14 LUFS and target headroom to at least 1.0 dB, matching the room a lathe needs.

Already have a professional-grade digital master you just want to make vinyl-safe? Set all three adjustment ranges to 0. The engine then leaves the spectrum alone and applies only the cut-safety filtering, loudness and headroom, turning a finished digital master into a vinyl master without touching its balance.

Input and output format

WAV in, WAV out. The output matches the input (16-bit in, 16-bit out; 24-bit in, 24-bit out; 32-bit float in, 32-bit float out) with sample rate and channel count preserved. For any other format on either side (MP3, FLAC, or a different sample rate), run it through the Format Converter first for the input, or after for the output.
